Ishnella grew up in a family of residential real estate investors of single- family homes. While she was at the University of Houston main campus she received 3 Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology, Psychology and Sociology. During college she and her father started a commercial real estate company. She then went to the medical school at Baylor college of Medicine. She moved out to Santa Monica and did residency training in Psychiatry at UCLA, VA Hospital and Cedars.
Continuing their investing for close family and friends slowly grew to a decent size. When $60M was reached Dr. Azad quit medicine, moved back to Houston, and took on growing her company. No advertising nor website until the last couple years. Through happy customers’ word of mouth, she grew her company alongside her father to $550MM in assets and 4.2 million square feet. Ishnella is COO, CRO and the investor development and capital raising and in the past year and a half she has gathered $70MM and made over 120 new investors. Her metrics are on track for getting her company to $1Billion in assets. In 2022 she was awarded as one of the top C-suite females in Houston Real Estate.
In the past few years, she has become interested in technology and the juxtaposition of CRE within that industry. Ishnella has been part of a new form of technology called Chillirack that can cut the usage of kilowatts in ½ at data centers and more importantly allows for full rack utilization thus the doubling of the rentable area and doubling the NOI possible with zero infrastructure cost. She has been a partner in a bitcoin mining facility within Houston Texas for several years and has recently opened a new Tech division within 5Rivers CRE doing data centers.
She sits on the Board of the new tech product Chillirack of DHK data tech corporation and shares some COO and CRO responsibilities there as well, she acts as a financial advisor for the UN organization United Sikhs which includes charitable campaigns worldwide. Ishnella sits on the executive board of her Sikh church and is the head of the interior design group of this huge church. As a female minority amputee, she tries to bring that diversity perspective to all she does. She has a very active social life with traveling, sailing and a lot of time with friends. She has been a featured speaker on Pacifica radio and several articles by Biznow on CRE topics. She writes a column in her local magazine to educate and support new CRE investors. She continually tries to up her game with multiple business mentors, and her membership in Vistage to promote CEO/owner growth.
